COVINGTON – Nila P. (Verden) High, 52, a long time resident of Covington, died at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998 in United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. She had been a patient for two weeks and in failing health for one year. Born March 24, 1946 in Danville, Ill., she was the daughter of Rae Elvin and Mary Alice Brasker Verden. She married James H. High Dec. 14, 1970 in Georgetown, Ill., a Covington High School custodian, who survives. She had been a resident of Covington the past 28 years and had resided in Mound Township, Warren County, prior to moving to Covington. She graduated from Covington High School in 1965. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Covington and the Women’s Ministries of the church. She loved to crochet and play the accordian. Survivors besides her husband include: son, Billy R. (Dianna) High, Covington; brothers, James C. (Mazie) Verden, Covington; the Rev. Fred (Caroline) Verden, Angola; a grandson; four aunts; and an uncle. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. tonight (Friday) at the First Assembly of God Church in Covington. Funeral services will be there at 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Don Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Assembly of God Church. – jlr
